Save Jesse Stone

Save Jesse Stone

Well, it’s been a month since the airing of the last Jesse Stone movie Benefit of the Doubt and subsequent announcement of the cancellation of the series. Many fans were in shock and disbelief at the announcement. Especially since the show pulled in a huge amount of viewers. Since the announcement, Sony hasn’t found a buyer and we have no idea where that process is at or if any other networks are interested. So in the meantime, I created this page to gather as many supporters as I could to try and save the Jesse Stone series.

If you like/love/live for Jesse Stone, please comment below and give your support to the series or voice your opinion on the cancellation. We need to let the networks know that they can’t cancel a show just because it doesn’t score well in a specific demographic. If you have friends, collegues or family members that also love this show, please pass this page on to them so they can show their support as well. If you are on Facebook, “Like” this post and spread the word as much as you can. DVD sales can also be great motivators. Several series, most notably “Family Guy” was brought back on the air due to huge fan support and strong DVD sales. If you wish you show your support in this way go here: Jesse Stone DVDs or Instant Video Downloads

Once we get a significant amount of support I will send this “Save Jesse Stone” petition to CBS and Sony in hopes that it helps them find Jesse a new home.

I was sad to hear that the Jesse Stone series was not renewed. It is one I look forward to every year and still watch the DVDs a couple of times per year. I really hope someone else picks it up because I would love to see more.

I just discovered this series (on Netflix) and am now an enthusiastic and dedicated fan. The performances are solid, the tone is moody and unhurried, and the characters quite believable.

I certainly hope Sony doesn’t give up on this fine program. The threat of its finality is every bit as discouraging as when Deadwood was so rudely discontinued in its prime…same for Monk and even 24.

SONY, if you are aware of us Jesse Stone fans, keep it alive and well!!

I love the Jesse Stone series. Have been watching on the Hallmark movie channel. Watch over and over again. Was super excited to see a new movie at Red Box yesterday and rented. Please continue this series. Want to see “Suitcase” back in next movie. He came back at end of The Benefit of the Doubt. Want to see “Rose” back again also. Their characters play very well against each other. Please do more of these. I will certainly continue to rent. Love Tom Selleck in this role. Suits him very well.

I was checking around to see when the next movie was to be released only to come across this “cancellation” notice. Wow. No wonder I rarely watch TV anymore. All the good stuff gets dumped. Seriously, I came into this series about half-way through – I own all the DVDs. This is a quality story by a quality set of actors. You really need to re-think this decision.

I can not believe some network especially CBS would not agree with Sony to make another movie in this franchise.
I am a baby boomer and you can’t tell me, we are not a good enough demographic group (which has tremendous buying power)that we should be ignored.
CBS, Lifetime or another cable network make another Jesse Stone movie!

I have read Robert Parker since the beginning. Jesse Stone is one of the good guys on TV. He has problems, like all of us, and still manages to do the right thing. I own all the DVD’s and enjoy the movies when they come out on TV.

It seems daft to me, popular series and they want to cancel it, there must be some network which will take it on. At least if they are dead set on cancelling give us just one more to bring some form of closure because too many things are left hanging after the last one.

We are watching Jessie Stone right now for the 3rd time. We really enjoy this series and even if networks won’t buy into it, make them for Netflix or Blockbuster. Internet TV is the wave of the future. We want Tom back with this series. 🙂 The reason I like Jessie Stone is because it’s a quiet down-to-earth edge-of-your-seat entertainment. No violent scenes like there is today. Please, please, please make more Tom 🙂 If not, we still love you on our TV set. :)Thank you!

Wow! What CBS needs are more shows like the Jesse Stone series that have intelligent dialog, good story lines, and thoughtful character development. And they need a range of shows that appeal to different demographics (not just one!), including the demographics to which this show appeals. I believe there is a good audience for more Jesse Stone movies, an audience that grows with each new addition to the series, and buys products, including the Jesse Stone DVDs, which are still priced higher than most other movie DVDs on eBay. CBS would be wise to bring Jesse Stone back with another edition, and other networks would be wise to pick up the series.

Everyone I have introduced to this series have become hooked and have purchased the dvd’s themselves. Real adult viewing is difficult enough to find and it is unfuriating that it would be cancelled with such a strong following. I love that there was no compromise in the quailty, unlike the many other “made for TV” movies. The show didn’t have to rely on over the top special effects or violence because of it’s strong storyline and full characters. Everything was always believable and solid. These are the kind of movies that we enjoy rewatching again and again, all the while hoping and waiting for the next installment. How many other shows can say they have viewers that would wait a full year. Great job Mr. Selleck as usual.

We both love the Jesse Stone movies with Tom Selleck and to end the series this way stinks. We are sick to death of good shows being cancelled by networks because they can put on trashy “reality” shows for a buck and good tv isn’t allowed. If it isn’t some reality or talk show, it can’t be on television. We are dumbing down America not making good tv shows to entertain. If we had more like Jesse Stone and less like The Kardashians and housewives of who gives a **** maybe tv would pick back up and pay for itself again.

Fantastic series. The very first series I have purchased every DVD when they become available.

I wondered how long it would take before Tom’s politics would interfere with his career. A conservative in Hollywood is an endangered species. Why do you think there are so few decent movies and TV series for a moral person to choose from? His DVDs are the only financial contribution I have made to Hollywood in years.

So…we got into these kind of late, compared to most. We did not actually start watching the series until 2012! However, we’ve seen them all now, and of course…the optimist that I am…we finished the last one and said, “okay…now we just have to wait a few months for the next one.” I was so, so disappointed…actually, worse than disappointed, when I learned that there was a good possibility that there would be no more Jesse Stone movies. I just cannot believe that. I think someone out there in entertainment land is making a huge mistake. You know, I liked Magnum P.I. a lot; I liked Quigley Down Under; and I really like Blue Bloods. But there is nothing like Tom Selleck being Jesse Stone. I hope we can save him!

Glad I found this site, I was startled that the series was cancelled, so typical of the big networks,no wonder they’re going down hill. I’m watching it right now,[ 25/8/2013]on hallmark mystery sunday. I introduced the series to my wife, and she loves it, never heard of the series, perhaps that’s the problem. Go to cable!!! Its the best acting Ive seen from Mr Selleck,[Las Vegas was close!] and in general with the haunting music, location, and the plots, it is one of the best small town detective stories, cudos to robert parker and to Mr. Selleck to be able to adapt the book to film. successfully!!!!!

I was late to watch this series of movies and thanks to my wonderful hubby who got me hooked on this. I am now hooked like no other. I beg and plead that someone will take this series and run wild with it. For that matter I will even gab about it like nothing else just to get the word out and help publicize it. Thank you Tom Selleck for being a great actor and for giving us hours on end nothing but complete entertainment.

Every time you get an intelligent audience tuning in to watch an actor like Tom Selleck who becomes the character he is playing you get cold feet and put on these mindless twenty something sitcoms. It’s no wonder that cable, HBO, Showtime and Starz are taking over that audience over the “Big 3 Networks” wake up.

If they would advertise this series to the baby boomer generation which is the largest, there would be plenty of viewers. Everyone I have shown it to, loves it! I came across it by accident so apparently the studios never promoted it. It has some of the best acting, writing, music and scenery of any show I have ever scene.

The Jesse Stone movies have been some of the best shows on tv in the past ten years. I can’t imagine the major networks not wanting such a quality product. Tom Selleck has millions of fans of all ages and Parker’s detective style is the best since Sam Spade, Nick Charles and Phillip Marlowe. I certainly hope that someone with clout in the entertainment business will come to realize this.

I own all eight of the Jesse Stone movies, and have watched each of them numerous times. Why CBS dropped the series baffles me as all of the episodes were highly successful. it is CBS’s intent to attract the younger audience. hopefully Sony will shop Jesse Stone to one of the cable channels. This is too excellent a series to let die. It has already been a year and a half since Benefit Of The Doubtwas released.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Stone_(character)

“Although Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt attracted nearly 13 million viewers when CBS aired it on May 20, 2012, producer Michael Brandman told Variety a few days later that he and Tom Selleck had been notified that CBS would not be ordering any more episodes. They said the film attracted older viewers, and CBS is moving away from movies and specials in favor of shorter duration TV series.”

I don’t know why Jesse Stone is considered of appeal only to older audiences, I am a fan, as in I’ve watched all the movies at least three times each (cause I own them), and I am not 50 and over, I’m 28. My mother likes Jesse Stone, my cats like Jesse Stone, I can’t imagine anyone not liking him.
For movies about a burnt out alcoholic cop, they have brought a peaceful, fresh and interesting bent to an old yarn. I don’t much like alcohol or cops or depressed burnt out people, but I do like a realistic portrayal of a good man doing his best, an infatigable attention to character development, good acting from the entire cast and fantastically beautiful photography. I appreciate the scenery, the subtle use of color and light to bring out all it’s beauty, the shots that open each movie are a complete delight, even the music is good.
Safe to say, I love this series of movies, I fervently hope they continue.

Rumors are that the Hallmark Channel might be picking up the continuance of the Jesse Stone movie series. Inasmuch that Hallmark has been showing the reruns of the eight Jesse Stone movies released previously, there would be some sense to that. If a new Jesse Stone for 2015 is in the plan, I would think Selleck and Broadman, would be writing the script now or very soon to have it released this year. Aren’t the movies released around the month of May?

I own all eight of the DVD’s and have been wating for about two years for the ninth. As an avid fan of the series, I have almost given up on another. Tom Selleck seems to be very committed to “Blue Bloods,” and he is approaching an age that might prohibit his effectiveness in playing the police chief if it isn’t done in 2015. It is my favorite series, so I will continue to hope fo more of Jesse, at least through 2015.

I watch the re-runs anytime they air. It’s such an interesting movie series, I hate to think that no more will be made. There is a new one on Hallmark tonight, so I have been watching them all day.

They are more interesting and thought-provoking than 95% of what’s on TV. Even if they do appeal to an older demographic, that’s who watches television now. The younger generations are all connected wirelessly. The over-45 group has a lot more disposable income, and advertisers & network executives should recognize that.

I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said over the past couple years. It does not surprise me that a mainstream network would make such a foolish decision for the reasons they’ve stated. Sadly, by cancelling this CBS has revealed their lack of good sense and are clearly out of touch with reality. I can only suggest people consider contacting Sony directly and continue to do so. The squeaky wheel gets the grease as the saying goes. Keep hounding them and maybe eventually they will ‘get’ it. Most networks are out of touch with what people want & therefore need to be inundated with a message before they understand. I sincerely hope Sony or one of the other reputable networks will finally see the value in this intelligent and beautifully acted series & reconsider the strong viewer numbers. Selleck definitely shines and has an amazing cast! You can’t get any better quality than this. Thank you.
